Bergen, indeed most of Norway, is pretty hilly.   Walking gives you plenty of exercise.   Motorists have to be extra careful to set the parking brake.  

Wintertime in such a landscape is, to me, almost unimaginable, but then I've never lived in San Francisco, either.  Our lodging was on a street just like this.
