There are several buildings in El Retiro devoted to the arts and the sciences, mostly clustered in an area not far from the Prado Museum.  This is The Crystal Palace, a greenhouse for plants that need more care than Mother Nature typically provides.  It was, unfortunately, closed for renovation when we were there.
