We took a tour of Lisbon that brought us to the fortress, Castello de S. Jorge, that gazes out over the city, something that nearly every coastal city in Europe has. When the tour ended, we walked (downhill, blessedly) to the center of town. Along the way, we passed several locals selling 'shots' of ginjinha (gin-gin-ya) for 1€ each. Ginjinha is a cherry-flavored cordial similar to Cherry Kijafa. It's delightful. When the tour finished, we found a liquor store and bought two bottles to take home with us. |
