Madeira's Botanical Garden is at the top of a mountain.  A funicular takes you up to the entrance where you can grab a bite to eat at their cafeteria and dine al fresco.  When the weather is right, as it was that day, you will sometimes see a rainbow that stretches from horizon to horizon.
