Italy — 2015 cupola spindle

Along the Passeig de Gràcia, buildings designed by Antoni Gaudi in his inimitable and easily-recognizable style, line the street on both sides, and they are considered among Barcelona's most treasured landmarks.

Gaudi elaborated all of his buildings with fantastical flourishes, often decorated as if they were wedding cakes.  To see a close-up of the cupola, click it.

One of Gaudi's trademark features are ornamental spindles and cupolas.  For a closer look at this one, click it.
