Cartagena has a Roman theater.  Each time we brush past Cartagena, we go see the theater to check in on the latest improvements.

The story we heard is that during the latter part of the 20th century, Cartagena's town engineers were excavating preparatory to building some new residential housing units when they discovered part of an old Roman theater, so they uncovered it, and this is what they found.

The museum that now occupies part of the site has several models showing how the theater would have looked when new.

In fact, the city has reconstructed small sections of the theater's stonework that were in exeptionally poor condition so that visitors can see what the stonework was like when new.  You can see some of that here.
