Strasbourg is wall-to-wall half-timbered houses and exudes a charm that screams "We were here before anybody knew there was a 'New World'!" Note, also, that some of these old houses are 7- or 8 stories tall. Considering they're mostly made of wood, that's startling. Almost everything of that era taller than 50 or 60 feet was made of stone. |
