Delicate Arch is Utah's state symbol. While in Utah, you just can't get away from it. It's everywhere. There are three ways to see Delicate Arch: the lower viewpoint is just a short walk from the parking area and provides an adequate, albeit distant, view of the arch. The upper viewpoint gets you closer at the cost of a half-mile rocky uphill trail to a nearby ridge. (That's where this picture was taken.) The very hardy and athletic can actually go to the arch via a 3-mile trail that gains 480 feet of elevation. One way. Look closely at the picture. At the foot of the arch on the right is a patch of blue. That's a person. There are a dozen more on the ridge to the left. |
