Seeking refuge from the oppressive heat, we jumped on this tour bus and got an air-conditioned look at some of Budapest's high points. It wasn't until after I got off and got a good look at the bus itself that I realized the writing on the side of the bus was not Hungarian, but English. I was worried that being totally ignorant of the Hungarian language I would have trouble negotiating through the city. That turned out not to be a problem, because almost everyone here speaks enough English to compensate for Americans' legendary inability to master a second language. |
