The Rose Garden

MVC-006F 1280x960

The rose garden at Château Clarke is on the location of the original château.  In the 1930s, in the midst of a world-wide depression, the property was sold to a local businessman who, unfortunately, had little talent for the wine business.  By the 1950s, in deep financial trouble, the current owner sold the château and contents piecemeal including the masonry.  Various buyers disassembled the château and carted it away so that today there actually is not a physical Château Clarke.  Several buildings still exist on the property, and some of them are relatively new.  One of them is a residence that the Rothschild's use when family members are on site.
