This is Copenhagen's 'walking street', a huge pedestrian mall such as you will find in many American cities. 

The instructions we had for finding our B&B said merely "...50 steps from the square along Strøget... ring the bell by the "M" on your right."  There it is... a big yellow "M"... for McDonald's. 

Across the street they sell SoftIs :-)  I think I'm going to like this place...
