When we arrived in Munich on Monday, the 17th, we went immediately to the Euraide office.  This group of English-speaking travel advisors is commissioned by DeutscheBahn to help out foreign tourists, and they do a great job!  They get a stipend from DB and pick up extra cash by arranging and/or running special tours; they arranged our walking tour with Maxine on Monday.  They also talked us into a 1-day-2-castle tour, the only practical way to see both Neuschwanstein and Lindenhof in one day without a car and extensive knowledge of the area.

Our tour guide, Alan Wissenberg, is also Euraide's founder/owner.  For 52 Euros his staff arranged train transportation, a charter bus, and admission to both castles.  His deep familiarity with the region and its history enabled him to keep up an interesting commentary for hours at a time.

Our first stop was the Wieskirche (Church on the Wies), a baroque masterpiece which has been drawing tourists for two hundred years.  Even I, who can't stand Baroque, was impressed by it.
