Few views of Salzburg can match those from the Festung...  for obvious reasons.  There is the Caribbean-blue Salzach.  Yes, that is its true color, thanks to a limestone bed and water purer than you will find anywhere.  The water you see flowing past Schloss Mirabell is potable.
Four churches are clearly visible in this picture.  Indeed, it is almost impossible to take any picture in Austria which does not show at least one church.  Just to the left of dead-center is The Franziskaner Church, and just closer to us than that is St Peter's Monastery (which you can't actually see because other stuff is blocking the view).  The monastery has an above-ground cemetery with some very interesting grave markers.
