The Salzach (Salt River) flows through the heart of Salzburg. It has a beautiful aquamarine color due to the crushed limestone which forms the riverbed and the drinkable purity of the water pouring from the mountains surrounding the town. The river flows at an incredible rate. We watched a tour boat trying to go upstream. Its engines were roaring and it was barely making headway against the current. Unlike Florida, Salzburg's (and Austria's) problem is "too much water". |
