We picked up our car at the Hertz agency at the Munich Hauptbahnhof (main train station) and headed for Rothenburg up the Romantischer Strasse (the Romantic Road).  Along the way, we saw a sign that said "Schloß Harburg" so we drove up the hill to see what it looked like.  It turned out to be a small 11th-century fortress with a gift shop and a church.  Such things pepper the landscape in this part of the world.  After a while it becomes "ho-hum... another thousand-year-old castle...".
