It's Sunday morning and the local Pops Orchestra (I'd be willing to bet a lot of money they're all volunteers) is giving a concert in the park. They set up under the trees and the audience sits on park benches or stone walls or perhaps they've brought their own chairs. The program is Mozart and Strauss and Humperdinck and Mozart and Strauss and Brahms and Strauss and Mozart... a well-rounded program as far as Salzburgers are concerned. A little heavy on the Mozart for my taste. Midway through the third piece the skies opened. They finished the piece and by that time the instrument truck had arrived. They loaded the big stuff... tubas and cellos... into the truck and everybody headed for shelter. |
