Other cities may be famous for their art; Munich is famous for its beer, and most Münchners seem to consider that "art enough". This is the Augustiner Biergarten, one of many hosted by the various breweries in Munich. This one seats a thousand for dinner inside and another thousand outside. It has a playground for the kids, and separate sections for waitress-service and self-service. The waitresses are all middle-aged, burly, and typically tote 4 liters of beer in each hand. Good thing, too, because everybody here is going to knock back two to four liters in the course of an evening. You can see several liter mugs here in the foreground. |
