This model shows Old Vienna.  It is, as you can see, a walled city containing the Stefansdom and other miscellaneous stuff.  It's pretty obvious what the focus of the people's attention was.

A few feet away from this model, the old city wall has been exposed.  You can actually see a section of the original wall extending downwards about 10 meters
