The next day we walked over to ND to take a tour and climb the tower to see the bells and the sights.  Our tour guide was a professor from the American University, Irving Grossman.  He was very well read in the history of ND and really gave us a great tour — free.  Of course we gave generously to the Tour Guides' Fund, probably more than they would have charged us for the tour. Then it was up 422 steps to the tower which gives you great views of the city, close-ups of the gargoyles, and plenty of cardio-vascular exercise.  I always thought I needed a StairMaster — all I really needed was a vacation in Paris! Are those great gargoyles or what? |
